Hollywood superstar Will Smith is to perform live on Blackpool’s Tower Festival Headland this summer.

The actor, rapper and songwriter, will be reunited with DJ Jazzy Jeff for the final night of a spectacular new three-day music festival on the Promenade over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.

livewire-lineupThe 2017 LIVEWIRE Festival will open on Friday 25 August with a performance by The Jacksons. That will be followed on the Saturday night by Pete Waterman’s Hit Factory Show starrring Jason Donovan, and featuring Pepsi and Shirlie, Go West, Sinitta, Samantha Fox and more.

Then, on the final night, Sunday 27 August, Will Smith will take to the stage with DJ Jazzy Jeff for their only UK performance this year.

Smith originally made his name as a rapper under the name, The Fresh Prince. He then appeared in six seasons of the TV series, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, before becoming a major Hollywood movie star, headling in a series of blockbuster films including Men In Black, I Am Legend, Independence Day, Wild Wild West, The Pursuit Of Happyness and Enemy Of The State.

He has had four successful albums and found global success with the theme songs to Men In Black and Wild Wild West, and the singles Switch, Miami and Getting’ Jiggy Wit’ It.

The Jacksons, one of the world’s best known bands, will appear at Blackpool fresh from their appearance at Glastonbury where they will be celebrating 50 years in the music business.
